Trinity Lutheran School

Trinity Lutheran School (TLS) is wholly owned and operated by Trinity Lutheran Church (TLC), a non-profit corporation, which together with over 1,800 such schools throughout the United States and Canada, is affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS).

TLS is locally operated through the Administrative team, including Principal, Pastor and Board of Trustees of TLC; additionally, general support and specific council comes from our California-Nevada-Hawaii (CNH) District Office in Livermore, CA, and the LCMS National Office in St. Louis, MO.

The State of Hawaii, Department of Human Services (DHS), annually license the staff, program, and facilities of TLS Early Learning Program and PS - 8 Extended Care Programs. The Early Learning Program is licensed to serve children, and staff to child ratio varies from 1:12 to 1:16 depending on age. Our Elementary Extended Care Program is licensed to serve 40 children up through age 12.

Trinity Lutheran School is a ministry of Trinity Lutheran Church. Members of the Church’s Board of Trustees are elected by the congregation to oversee the work of the church. The School Advisory Team (SAT) is a team made up of trusted church members and parent volunteers to advise the Principal in the overall operation of the school ministry. This team is advisory only, and does not set policy.

Parents are always welcome to speak with the Principal or Pastor.

Welcome to Trinity Lutheran School

Aloha in the Name of Jesus Christ!

May the joy of the LORD fill your hearts today!

As we look back on 65 years of ministry on this Gathering Place of Oahu Island, we do so with anticipation for what God has in store for our future at Trinity Lutheran School. We will remain steadfast in serving our families, while continuously seeking new ways to grow and improve our programs.

Thanks to our dedicated Parents & Teachers of Trinity (PTT) group and everyone's involvement in fundraising events, we will officially launch Mango Languages, our foreign languages enrichment program, across all grade levels for the 2018/19 school year. In conjunction, we will be replacing old classroom computers with new Google Chrome Books that will be used not only for languages, but to enhance everyday learning for our students for a balanced, 21st-century experience.

Through the persistence of our Development Committee, made up of loyal school and church servant-leaders, we have completed our fencing project and look forward to raising the funds needed to repave our parking lot. We appreciate the selfless giving of time, talent, and treasure from school, church, and community partners at our Annual Gala as well as the Golf Classic.

In addition to our already dynamic literacy program, we will enhance and improve our school-wide reading curriculum with research-based methods. This includes comprehension and fluency benchmark assessments and in-class interventions designed to help students meet individual reading goals while recognizing the value of choice for students in what they read and how they respond to literature.

Our Crusader Athletics Program remains interscholastic, competitive, and fun, providing students as young as fourth grade with healthy opportunities to meet the physical and mental challenges of volleyball, basketball, cross country, and track and field. Not only do we offer extracurricular athletics, but Trinity Lutheran is proud to go above and beyond basic state requirements by maintaining our Physical Education (PE) program for all grade levels.

Another outstanding element that brings an abundance of pride to our school is Music. Fourth and fifth grade students perform as a Choir, while fifth through eighth grade students may choose Beginning or Advanced Band as an elective course. Students in kindergarten through third grade have regularly-scheduled music classes, while daily musical enrichment is built into our preschool and prekindergarten curriculum.

The intentional and balanced implementation of technology for the sake of enhancing the learning experience and preparing our students for their futures remains a priority. We are thrilled to keep offering coding, yearbook, and videography as middle school electives, while finding new and meaningful ways to use our iPads in every classroom.

Above all else, we are faithful to our mission to share the love of Jesus Christ. It is Christ’s love, as shown in our tireless and devoted faculty and staff that sets apart Trinity Lutheran School. It is a blessing to serve our Ohana each day.

Mahalo for taking the time to learn about Trinity Lutheran School. We hope you will join us in celebrating 65 years of serving the families of Central Oahu with decidedly Christian and distinctively excellent education.

God bless you and keep you always,

Corissa Sheets, Principal
